Coming in January 2025 - AGD PACE CE credit for all educational programs!
There are a couple of ways State Dental Boards reach out to CRDTS to discuss remediation for a licensee.
1. Some Dental Boards get CRDTS involved early in the board order. They share as much information as they can, to allow CRDTS time to work with our Remediation Team to build the custom program.
2. Some Dental Boards prefer to wait until the board order is completed, signed, and made public before involving CRDTS.
CRDTS is happy to work with your Dental Board at any stage of the process and appreciates your trust in working with your licensees.
The CRDTS Subject Matter Expert (SME) Team is comprised of some of the most skilled dental and dental hygiene educators in the country. CRDTS works with our SME's from every discipline of dentistry. These educators work with the CRDTS Remediation Team to create custom education using both the board order and a comprehensive pre-assessment.
Drawing from our 50+ year history in Dental and Dental Hygiene testing, CRDTS has developed a comprehensive pre-assessment to evaluate the licensee's clinical skills. We use the results of the pre-assessment to help guide our remediation learning plan.
The remediation plan consists of both didactic and hands-on coursework. Thanks to our partnerships with SPEAR Education, EBAS Ethics Testing, and CE Zoom, CRDTS has an abundance of resources to create the most comprehensive learning plan. CRDTS has also developed a robust learning library with coursework and testing in the following areas:
Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
Operative Dentistry
Periodontics
Prosthodontics
Endodontics
Orthodontics
Pedodontics
Oral Surgery
Implant Dentistry
Medical Emergencies
Ethics
Our hands-on coursework is custom-designed using the board order and results of the pre-assessment. Sessions are scheduled in CRDTS Topeka Learning/Testing Center. One or more Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) are selected to provide opportunities for hands-on learning in our state-of-the-art learning center. Using both the best in Adec dental equipment and virtual haptic technology via the SIMtoCARE Dente. This technology allows licensees to have repetitive practice in areas such as caries removal, prosthodontics, local anesthesia, periodontal charting, and calculus removal. SME's
CRDTS believes that the key to successful remediation is in the follow-through. This is why CRDTS builds in continued didactic education to each remediation. Some cases also require follow-up check-ins with the licensee to ensure that the new skills and knowledge are applied to practice. We work directly with the Dental Board to customize each program, as well as develop a follow-up plan that fits the needs of the licensee.
The Dental Board is provided a comprehensive report that includes all didactic testing scores along with detailed information on each hands-on session with the licensee. Finally, CRDTS provides a final conclusion and recommendations to the board.
The remediation program I participated in through the CRDTS organization has benefited me tremendously and has helped me to improve both professionally and personally. My coordinator, Catrice, was extremely positive and provided me with the information and understanding I needed to navigate the program successfully. Her attitude was contagious and motivated me to take full advantage of the program.
My remediation program consisted of the following:
-On-line Spear Education
-Ethics training
-Training in periodontics
The online Spear education was extremely beneficial. The platform provided education in many topics including diagnosis, treatment planning, and periodontics, as well as many other topics related to dentistry. The platform is simple and easy to navigate. Team members can be given access which gives me an easy way to provide team training. My contact with Spear Education, Amanda, was excellent and was always accessible. She answered questions I had about the platform promptly and even provided my team with training for the platform.
I received ethics training via webinars from attorney Mark Brengelman, who’s worked closely with the Kentucky Dental Board. He provided education on multiple dental-related ethical topics and provided detailed answers to all of my questions. He was open to discussion and allowed me to raise ethical concerns about society. He is very knowledgeable and I benefited greatly from his training.
My favorite part of the program was my periodontal training. Because I graduated from dental school in 2011, I was not well versed in the new system for diagnosing periodontal disease. Dr. Mark Edwards provided me with the training I needed to get up-to-date with the latest advancements in diagnosing periodontal disease. He also provided me with tips and templates for training my team. I’ve integrated much of what he’s recommended in my practice.
Overall, this program has been a great experience and I thank all the amazing professionals that were involved.
